WordPress Launch Checklist: Before You Share the Link
A WordPress installation is the beginning of a launch, not the end. The useful final test is whether someone can find the right page, read it on a phone and complete the action you expect without your help.
Prepare the address and access
Confirm the domain points to the intended hosting account and that HTTPS works on the public address. Use a supported software environment and obtain WordPress from its official distribution or a trusted hosting installer. Choose an administrator account with a unique password and keep routine publishing separate from full administration.
Decide the final address structure before promoting links. If the site was built on a temporary address, check navigation, images and form destinations for old references. Open a few pages in a private browser window to avoid relying on your logged-in session.
Test a visitor journey
For a small consultancy, a useful test is straightforward: open the home page, find a service, send a contact enquiry and confirm that the message arrives. Repeat the journey on a phone. A visible success message does not prove an email was delivered.
Check a page that does not exist, the mobile menu and the footer contact details. Remove sample pages and unused demo content. Keep a short list of any unfinished work rather than hiding it behind an attractive homepage.
Make the launch recoverable
- Create a backup of both files and database, and understand how to restore it. - Remove development-only search blocking when the public site is ready. - Review page titles and descriptions without repeating the same wording everywhere. - Check the sitemap and the public response of important pages. - Keep access details and maintenance ownership documented.
When choosing OrienHost WordPress hosting, confirm which setup and backup tools are included. The launch is ready when the public journey works and the recovery process is understood.
